What do you call this ?
Do we call this patriotism, sectionalim or breaking of the law of the land. If this is breaking the law then someone needs to be
punished. But you and I know that for someone to be punished for a crime in this country depends on what offence he comitted, what part of the country it was committed and to whom it was committed.
We've heard of several cases of murder and different sorts of atrocities committed in the far North and no one blinks an eye about them, not even the police. Maybe this is the evidence that some fingers are more equal than the others.
The news reaching us this evening from Kano state Nigeria is of a young man whom upper lips was almost severed because he talked against, or not too good of the president. Same president whose health break is becoming too much for us to stomach. The sin this young man committed may not be far from voicing his views on some of the economic realities but in the wrong place and maybe time.
Attached to the picture that was sent is a caution for one to mind what he says and where he/she says them. I want to bet that nothing will be done to those that comitted this inhuman atrocity. I think those that did it think they are rendering this country a patriotic service even though I know it may have a religious undertone.
